Beer Bread Recipe and Giveaway!

Remember the Choose Your Own Adventure Books?  I used to LOVE them when I was little.  In my mind, the only thing better than reading a book was reading a book where I could choose the outcome.

(Yes, I was a little nerd.  I would even try to “sneak” in extra reading.  After my mom tucked me in bed, I would grab a flashlight and try to read under the covers without her knowing.)

Anyway. Back to Choose Your Own Adventure.

For those of you that haven’t heard of the series, click here for a description.  And don’t be too sad that you missed out; you are about to experience the phenomenon first hand.    Because for today’s post, I’m giving you not one, not two, but three choices.

I know the intent of a Choose Your Own Adventure story is not to read every option, but if you are anything like me, you will read them all anyway…. and you probably should ;)

Scenario:

It’s Sunday morning.  The alarm goes off and you lay in bed making a checklist of everything you have to do today.  You look outside the window and… ugh.  A cold grey rainy day.  There’s no way you are going outside in this weather.

That’s ok, you think to yourself.  I ran all of my errands yesterday and a have a mamouth sized pot of soup in the refrigerator.  There’s no need for me to go outside today.  I have everything I need inside where it’s warm.

You head to the kitchen with a plan in mind.  You open your cupboards and grab…

… the ingredients for something easy, tasty and comforting.  Beer Bread will be the perfect thing to snack on while you watch the all day Housewives of Orange County marathon. Click here!

…whatever you can find to create a new delicious recipe!  You need to come up with something good to win that $1,000,000 prize from the Pillsbury Bake-Off. Click here!

…a can of soup to heat up in the microwave.  You have a ton of chores to do, but first, you will enter the giveaway you saw on Food for Thought!  It only takes a second! Click here!

I used to do the same thing and read under the covers with a flashlight!

  2. I loved those books as a kid too and now my daughter is reading them. So empowering to choose what happens in a book. You did a great job with this post. So creative!

If I won a $1,000,000 I would pay off my mortgage and start my own business.

  3. I loved those choose your own ending books and I totally tried all the different alternate paths through the books. Love that beer bread! The whole post just rocked. Had to read it through a couple of times to enjoy it more. Awesome job Dana!

  4. eizel says:

great recipe for st. patty’s day!

  5. Nice recipe and I remember those books hehe. I would get a condo and redo a kitchen as I want it.

  6. RavieNomNoms says:

Ooo yummy beer bread! I could seriously just eat that whole loaf with butter and jelly and read a good book on the rainy mornings. Thanks for sharing Dana! Looks awesome!

  7. Peggy says:

This sounds excellent! I think if I won $1,000,000 I’d throw a dream wedding and save for the future – which includes opening my own catering business!

  8. I’d give some money to charity then quit my job and start my own business!

  9. Valerie says:

That’s a lot of money! I’d have to really think about it, but I know part of it would be used to help support my aging parents. What a blessing that would be!

  10. LOVE beer bread. Hard for me to have around…because I eat too much of it!

1,000,000.00 dollars? Oh my…I guess I would pay off all my debt and then save the rest incase something great came along that I needed!

  11. Evan @swEEts says:

Haha I used to LOVE choose your own adventures!! Goosebumps (yes I’m a dork too) had a few books like that as well.. soo good! ha I also enjoy a good slice of beer bread, especially with chili :)

  12. I’m probably pretty boring since I’m a financial planner in real life and spend my days working with this kind of stuff. I’d re-do my kitchen, donate some to charity and invest the majority of it.

  13. Karen says:

I haven’t made beer bread in ages as we never have beer in the house. I used to love it the day after toasted too! :-)

If I won that much money I would do something unglamorous like invest for retirement and pay some medical bills but would definately find a treat for myself. Maybe some beer for some beer bread. :-)

  14. Suki says:

I’m too practical. I’d pay off some debt and invest the rest. :p

  15. Suki says:

I am a follower on Twitter!

  16. Lulu says:

I am recently divorced so I would buy a house for my children and I to share and start over. I would pay off all my debt so that there would be nothing hanging over our heads but a new house and love.

  17. Reeni says:

I used to read under the covers too – and try to stay up all night doing it! Never made it though. Your beer bread looks excellent! Did you know Foodbuzz Featured Publishers aren’t eligible to enter the Bake-off?

  18. Tes says:

What an easy and fun recipe! It’s so simple… I will definitely try this :)

  19. My favorite part about this recipe is the drizzling with melted butter… It looks so yummy!
