Hummus Deviled Eggs Recipe and MultiGrain Cheerios Giveaway!

First thing’s first.  Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way.  Not that it’s a bad elephant.  In fact, it’s a great elephant… like Dumbo!  Or Babar!


I changed my blog design.  And I love it!

A very special thanks to Sarah Early of Dodeline Design for putting up with me creating the design.  She was extremely easy to work with (aka she didn’t abandon me despite my annoyingly picky requests) and the whole process, from the time I first emailed her to the time the design was up and running, took less than two days.

And now, I will attempt to smoothly segue from my blog design to today’s giveaway:

New yellow background… yellow bananas… banana in cereal… Cheerios… MultiGrain Cheerios… MultiGrain Cheerios Giveaway!

There.  Ok, maybe not so much with the smooth part, but who cares?  It’s giveaway time!

I must say, I was very excited (maybe a little too excited) when My Blog Spark and Cheerios offered to send me and one of my readers a prizepack including a box of MultiGrain Cheerios cereal with an exclusive online code, a gym bag, water bottle and cereal container.

It may not seem like it judging by all of the cookies, bars, breads, and dips that I feature here, but I actually do practice eating well and living a healthy lifestyle.  I was looking forward to hosting a giveaway that reflects these values.

When my prizepack arrived, I didn’t even wait to get home to open it.  I opened the box right in the middle of my office and started pulling out the contents like a little kid.  Sometimes I act feel like a five year old.

I did exhibit some self control, and waited until I got home to go online and explore the MultiGrain Cheerios Biggest Loser website.  There I found a BMI calculator, a 7 Day plan, complete with recipes and daily workouts, and a motivations page, with tips and advice from The Biggest Loser trainers.

Of course, the first thing I did was scope out the recipes section.  I was glad to see there were some really tasty looking healthy options.  I opted to try out the Hummus Deviled eggs, which were extremely delicious and made a very satisfying lunch.

This picture is from the MultiGrain Cheerios website.  Unfortunately, the pictures I took looked disgusting, and definitely would not have not enticed you to try them.  But you should!  They were great!


2 cans chick peas (15 oz each), rinsed and drained
1/2 cup warm water
3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp tahini
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 Tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
Flat-leaf parsley


1.  For hummus, place chick peas, water, lime juice, tahini, cumin, salt, and garlic in food processor. Process until very smooth. Add 1 to 2 extra tablespoons of water, if necessary, to thin mixture. Transfer to bowl. Stir in cilantro.

2.  Cut each egg in half lengthwise and discard yolks.

3.  Fill each egg white shell with 1 heaping tablespoon of Creamy Hummus and sprinkle lightly with paprika. Top with parsley. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate up to 1 day before serving.

In addition to trying out theirs, I also set out to create my own recipe utilizing the MultiGrain Cheerios.  And I did a pretty good job, if I do say so myself!
