Cinnamon Bits Recipe and a Giveaway!

At my middle school, “Home and Careers” was a mandatory class for every student.  Home and Careers was just Home Economics…  except we weren’t allowed to call it that.

In an effort to be more pollitically correct, Home Ec was renamed Home and Careers, and Shop was renamed Tech.  I’m not exaclty sure why those names were deemed more PC.  All I know is that if you accidentally called the class Home Ec, you got a lecture.  A long lecture.

I’m confident that not one student learned anything that would later be useful in their career.  Unless, of course, the career in question is chef.  Or 1950s housewife seamstress.

Nonetheless, we called it Home and Careers.

While my career doesn’t involve darning socks or peeling potatoes, I did take something away from the class: a recipe for Cinnamon Bits.

Ingredients

1 can biscuit dough
2 tablespoons butter or margerine
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon

This recipe is SO easy to make.  I mean, it’s literally designed for a 10 year old.

Directions

1.  Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

2.  Melt butter or margerine in a small bowl (about 1:30 minutes in the microwave) and set aside. In another bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.

3.  Cut each biscuit into quarters and roll each piece into a ball.  Place each ball into the melted butter and gently roll with a spoon. Lift the biscuit out of the butter and plae it into the cinnamon sugar mixture.  Coat each dough ball well.

4.  Place the coated balls of dough into an ungreased 8 or 9″ round or square pan.  Bake for 10-12 minutes and serve warm.

I admit that these Cinnamon Bits aren’t too attractive looking.  When I handed Jake one of the Bits, he looked at me skeptically… but after one bite, he was hooked.  I believe the word he used to describe the doughy cinnamon sugar treats was “bangin’.”

What a great giveaway – I think next to cheese, bread would be my second favorite food of all time!

The best way though? My husband makes an olive oil/herb mixture with parmesan cheese that is TO.DIE.FOR. I only have it a few times a year, but its oh so good!

Hope you had a great weekend!
