This weekend, we were lucky to have a sunny and beautiful long weekend! To celebrate, Jake and I invited my mom and stepdad, Pete, over last night for your typical Memorial Day BBQ. I knew the men would want to grill themselves some sort of red meat, so I left them to their own devices (they made lamb chops), and made some easy and delicious Garlic Parmesan Turkey Burgers for my mom and me.
1 lb ground lean turkey
¼ c seasoned bread crumbs
1 egg white
2 cloves garlic
¼ c shredded parmesan
½ small onion
Salt, pepper, Italian seasoning to taste
The only real preparation for these turkey burgers is to grate the ½ onion and finely mince the garlic. Other than that, the directions are pretty self explanatory:
1. Combine turkey, bread crumbs, egg white, garlic, onion, and parmesan in a large bowl. Mix well.
2. Form turkey mixture into 4-6 patties, depending on preference.
3. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
4. Grill (or broil) until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.
The burgers came out delicious and moist. They are tasty enough to serve at a BBQ, easy enough to make on a weeknight, and light enough for those watching their figures. Of course, any hope of eating “light” disappeared after seeing my mom’s selections from the bakery :)
